Below is a list of all our managers since 1947 and where they came from. It's very noticeable that we either promote from within or appoint those who have recently left a job through their own volition or otherwise. Only two have become manager straight from playing, three have come from coaching jobs at other clubs and only one has left another club for us. That was Mike Bailey when we were in the top division.

Don Welsh - First managerial job from player
Billy Lane - Promoted from within
George Curtis - Sunderland coach
Archie Macauley - No club (Resigned previous)
Fred Goodwin - No club (Coached in USA for 2 years)
Pat Saward - Coventry City coach
Brian Clough - No club (Sacked previous)
Peter Taylor - Promoted from within
Alan Mullery - First managerial job from player
Mike Bailey - Charlton Athletic
Jimmy Melia - Promoted from within
Chris Cattlin - Promoted from within
Alan Mullery - No club (Sacked previous)
Barry Lloyd - Promoted from within
Liam Brady - No club (Sacked previous)
Jimmy Case - Promoted from within
Steve Gritt - No club (Sacked previous)
Brian Horton - No club (Sacked previous)
Jeff Wood - Promoted from within
Micky Adams - No club (Sacked previous)
Peter Taylor - No club (Sacked previous)
Martin Hinshelwood - Promoted from within
Steve Coppell - No club (Resigned previous)
Mark McGhee - No club (Sacked previous)

What all this suggests is that our next manager will most likely come from the ranks of the recently unemployed rather than poaching from elsewhere and in our current financial climate I can't see us changing it

Much worse, have a QPR friend who has been whinging about him playing players out of position and keeping their more creative ones on the bench.

Ive read that alot aswell. I will be dissapointed if Holloway is apointed manager if MM is sacked.

Was George Curtis the one who said if you don't let a goal in,you don't lose, heralding some of the worst football seen at the Goldstone?
