It must have been a horrifying experience.
What happened was two 18 year fellas were in their boat and towing a friend who was on his surf board off the back of the boat. One 5 metre (18 feet) great white launched out of the water and grabbed his right arm and dragged him under the boat, literally ripping the kid in half in the process. A second great white 4.5 metres long then helped himself to the remains of the carcus.
No remains have been found and the two lads on the boat have been unable to give statements as they're suffering from shock.
And if anyone is interested, Great Whites live in the Med - a nicely kept secret from the various tourist boards in those countries. It is believed there is a massive trench off the Adriatic coast of Italy where they live off tuna. One of the biggest ever captured Great Whites was captured in Maltese waters.

I have lived in Australia all my life and live near the sea. I have seen sharks in the water but what has happened to this poor young kid and for his mates to witness it. Very unpleasant indeed.
