I've always found Lewes a strange place anyway, not in a bad way but in a sort of has it's own identity, pagan type way. I lived there for 18 months and enjoyed it but it's definitely a bit strange well to a Worthing born and bred lad anyway. Good pubs though.

Agreed. I have never seen him outside a pub!
Agree with the last bit but there is a strange atmos of self-importance about the place which I suppose comes from hundreds of years as the country-town, site of authority, the assizes and law courts etc.
What other town of less than 20,000 has both the County council AND the District Council both based there?
There are a lot of strange late middle-aged retired men wandering around the place during the day too. Including me occasionally.
