Imagine if you were the first pro footballer to come out for a long time (and only the second ever). Would you like abuse shouted at you from the stands at EVERY away game?

Unfortunately, when it does happen, the player in question is going to have a horrible time. Why will it be OK to shout unpleasantries at him, but not OK to make monkey noises at black players?

Brighton fans are used to all the homophobic nonsense and deal with it, IMHO, in the most sensible way, which is by having a laugh. But when it's directed at an individual it won't be so easy.
