Gonna get my arse in gear again for New Year and see if it makes a difference from all the advice I got last month.

its such a pain though, and sometimes utterly pointless.

Not confident at all, but New Year, new hope?

Keep trying, and don't expect to walk into the first job you apply for. Think about what you're applying for in relation to the skills you have.

Make sure your application forms are well-filled out and contain all the details asked for (seriously, I've had occasions where people fill out most of the form perfectly, yet forget to write their name and/or phone number on it), and if you've a CV make sure it's well formatted and informative without being too full of un-necessary crap.
