I have a day off and found The Long Good Friday in HMV for 3 earth pounds. A film I have long been recomended but have never seen so I am about to load into the machine, I have a plate of Apple, kiwi fruit, blackberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and bovarian smoked cheese. I will enjoy this I think.

Right up there with Get Carter and The Italian Job as a British Crime Classic.

We're looking for people who can contribute to what England has given the world: culture, genius, sophistication. Bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

In my top ten of all time, 'oskins hasn't been as good until.....Roger Rabbit!

Only joking - Mona Lisa is in my top twenty list too, best scene featuring Palace Pier on celluloid

Its a good film, but not aged well. Looks a bit "Minder" at times.

Wish it was in the EU
It is dated but foretells the Docklands boom, so visionary in its time. The place where Harold Shand berths his yacht is indeed Canary Wharf.

Watch out for a good twist at the end if you haven't seen it before.

Great soundtrack too.

Oh and Helen Mirren...what more could you want?

Is it really that dated? Only in a way that a 18th Century romantic romp would be. A belter of a film in my opinion. A classic English creation, a la Scum, Quadrophenia and Get Carter. "Razors, cut 'im". So many great lines.

Incidentally, I very nearly bought a 'This Is Spinal Tap' special edition for £70 yesterday. It included a working amp that went to 11. Still tempted to purchase it....

Great film and a good way to spend a midweek day off work - but what the hell kind of slobbing out snacks are they??? Do you live in Glastonbury? Get a terrys chocy orange down your neck and large bag of popcorn
