Why dont they criticise the people who cause the problems rather than a decision to stage a football match at a certain time?

Because alcohol is the biggest evil in the world. No-one is responsible for their actions after a beer. Just look at how you think you can sue for setting fire to your own coat on a pub candle.

There will always be trouble makers at derby games, even guys that may never have thrown a punch in their lifetime can get involved. Emotions run high and throw in hours of boozing and its a dangerous concoction.

Therefore as the police know its going to happen they ust act accordingly and move games so that limit one of the only variables they can manage and thats the number of hours people can drink. What would a piece criticising the troublemakers actually achieve ?

What does criticising the Police achieve? It seems the police are seen as fair game by some these days, blame the police, as if its their fault that some people are unable to behave like decent civilised people.

It helps because the Police have the ability to lower the chance of trouble by moving KO time. Its not a personal attack on the officers on the ground but more of a attack on the planning made by the police, the club, the FA etc

Alternatively just hand out as many football banning orders as are required so the rest of us can go and enjoy the match whatever time the kick off is without bumping into the mindless idiots !

People moan about it being a Nanny State, then when the police aren't there to hold your hand on the way to football they moan and bitch about it. FFS, if you think there is gonna be trouble, and you don't fancy getting involved don't go (or go by car/lift).

If you're not able to look after yourself what hope is there for anyone else to look after you?

It's not their fault, but some people are always going to be unable to behave like decent civilised people. That is never going to change. If it did, then there wouldn't be any need for the police in the first place. So they probably wouldn't like that either or they wouldn't have a job.

I've never understood the logic in playing derby games in the evening. Some people would be out to cause trouble if it was played at 8am on a Thursday, you are never going to stop them. But there are a lot of others who wouldn't actually go looking for trouble, but who are likely to find it if they sit drinking in the pub for 6 hours first. Those are the kind that you can stop, by having the game at midday on a Sunday.

The decision to play our game on a Tuesday was ridiculous. Even if they'd have played it at 3pm on Saturday there would have been less trouble after the game because a lot of people would have stayed behind and had a couple in the ground, and everyone wouldn't have been in a mad rush to all try and get on the same train. Hopefully the police will see sense next season, assuming we're both in the same division.

Best time to play it I thought would be 12.00 on a Sat.

This gives ample time for crowds to disperse, our friends from Croydon will be able to get trains from 9 or 10 am and get to Falmer by midday. I suppose the police didnt want Palace hanging round Brighton but kicking off at that times means there will only be a few dotted around and not one big mass making their way to and from the station. Plus there are loads of trains back, as opposed to having to get them on the last one out of Brighton and the mad dash that ensues.

If it works for WHU/Millwall then it can work for us.

I would have thought Sunday 12.00 would be best - Lets face it Sat early ko, palace would want to hang about in Brighton and make a night of it

This is the reason Birmingham Villa is now always Sunday midday and is not televised. Mind you by having it in the evening at least the fans want to get away quicker. Can't imagine too many brighton fans wanting to hang around S. Norwood!

Only people to blame in my book is the players. if we'd beaten them they would have been out of Brighton a lot quicker!

Yes or a sunday. My thinking on the sat was that they probably wouldnt travel down Friday nite. If they stayed Sat nite there would only be "pockets" of palace and not mob handed.

Of course if it was a sunday it gives them all day sat to travel down and stay. Plus Sunday train services are not as good as a saturday (tho at 12.00 k/o thats immaterial)

We all know the Old bill did nothing but inflame the situation down here and then were incompetant in their policing from that point onwards.

Not a bad right hander from the Norwich fan in that clip. Suprised the Ipswich lot didnt all pile in though. Got away with that

And the manager. They all knew Poyet only gets a lazy lob on about Saints when really it should be all about the Palace.

surely it should be on television though, less people would go, therefore less chance of trouble?

Oh wow. So basically if you don't fancy a fight/can't "handle yourself" you shouldn't go to a football match?

Brilliant logic that is.
