Just checked on the Digibox and that is the case Although the picture is slightly better on the HD channels even when it's not a HD broadcast. I'm sure they showed Rotherham v Leeds (JPT 2nd round) in HD, hmmm

Yes they did, maybe it's down to the lighting available.

I note that our stadium at Falmer is going to have HD ready lighting

But you are correct, at least the HD channel will have better bitrates
