Firstly drug expenditure is nothing to do with politics, the drug companies set the prices ( high ) to protect their own investment in research and give their shareholders tidy dividends

If the giovernemnt intervened somewhere it might help, but I doubt they would or could, its a capitalist private industry

we, as a nation don't pay high enough taxes to warrant the kind of expenditure people demand, think about it, if the average salary pays a around £2000 a year in tax, and less in NI thats not a lot each to pay for everything.

My father was given semi experimental cancer care, he only lived 5months, but the treatment did have a positive effect, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have paid stupid money for something that wouldn't have made a difference to his life expectancy, and I'm
equally sure he wouldn't have lived much longer/shorter withoiut it BUT I'm positive what he did helped further positive research into cancer treatment.

Its the pharmasutical companie that need sorting out as much as the NHS, they will always pump their research into what makes a profit, not what cures all ills. IVF, Viagra etc.

The gradual redistribution of wealth undertaken by Gordon Brown over the last 9 years should be applauded.

Admittedly the gap between the bottom and top layers of society has widened,BUT
at least Labour's natural supporters are now better off, than when the country was run by a nasty narrow minded, social climbing
