Tis true! Leicester City have brought in Howard Wilkinson to assist caretaker boss Dave Bassett.

Micky Adams stepped down on Monday from his role as City manager and director of football Bassett took up the reigns on a temporary basis.

Bassett has now moved to for Wilkinson to help him while he is in charge of first team affairs at The Walkers Stadium.

"The situation is that I am caretaker and I need to bring someone in who could help me," Bassett told Sky Sports News.

"I spoke to Howard about helping and he accepted.

"I am delighted, he is a quality coach and I think he fits the bill perfectly.

"I am caretaker which will go on for perhaps a week, three weeks or three months."

Bassett stressed that Wilkinson was not being brought in to take charge.

"He has not come to be the manager, but I have no doubts I have the right man."

I can imagine the phone call now:

"Hi, Howard, it's big Dave here. We've got a small problem here at Leicester. With your wide knowledge of the game I wondered whether you could recommend any potential good young managers?"

Brief pause ....

"Well I'm free ..."

Exactly how he got the job at Sunderland!!!!!!

Gary McAllister appears to be the favourite for the Leicester Managers job. SkyBet have stopped taking any bets on him apparently. He hardly set the world alight at Coventry and with the "dream team" of Howard Wilkinson & Dave Bassett helping him out what are the odds on Leicester going down this season?

I remember when I was a kid my mates thought my dad looked like Howard ... I was really proud to think my dad looked like the Albion's winger.

Now 37 years on, my poor old dad has alzheimers, is old and confused and falls over a lot.

So the similarity continues!

Anyone who employs Howard Wilkinson are just stupid - the most moribound manager I have ever known.
