It happened Saturday night didn't it ? Reports say the police actually broke his front door down looking for him.
Clearly he was off his face, and has done a runner to get the alcohol out of his system before he hands himself in, there can be no other explanation. What a f***ing scumbag.

Police arrest player in crash inquiry

Lee Hughes' club is refusing to comment
Police have arrested a man, believed to be West Bromwich Albion striker Lee Hughes, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with a road accident in which an elderly man died.
West Midlands Police said a 27-year-old man from Meriden in Warwickshire man was arrested on Monday morning after giving himself up to a police station.

A police spokeswoman told BBC News Online said: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving failing to stop after an injury road traffic collision.

"He remains in custody at Little Park Street police station in Coventry and is due to be questioned by officers."

The arrest follows a search for the driver of a Mercedes coupe involved in the crash in the early hours of Sunday.

West Midlands Police had been unable to trace the driver, despite visiting his home and contacting his employers.

Five men had been in the Mercedes car at the time of the accident.

Three were questioned at the scene and a fourth was subsequently interviewed.

Four men who were in the Mercedes have been questioned

Police say a silver Mercedes CL55 coupe and a Renault Megane were in collision at the junction between the A45 Birmingham Road and Pickford Grange Lane in Meriden, Warwickshire.

A Coventry man in his 60s who was a rear seat passenger in the Megane, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

His wife, who was also a passenger, was treated at Coventry and Warwickshire hospital for a broken leg.

The police spokeswoman said: "The male driver suffered a broken pelvis and another male passenger also suffered bruising."

West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses.

West Bromwich Albion Football Club has so far refused to comment.

Maximum sentence is 10 years for Causing Death By Dangerous Driving. He has run from the scene. The sentence has just been racked up for that as well. If convicted?....4.5 years.

Elderly.........

How does the law regard this?

I think failing to remain at the scene of an accident (especially a fatal one) and failing to report an accident can carry just as heavy penalties as the actual drink drinking (classed as hit and run)

Then there is causing death by dangerous driving etc. There should be enough for the police to go on.
