I blame The Large One and his T-Shirts.
I do feel a bit sorry for him. Either he was badly misguided by his agent or he genuinely felt that he was worth a lot more than was offered. He had a niche here and was guaranteed 12 to 18 months paid work. We were both losers at the time and his departure was one of a number of reasons we missed out on a potential playoff sport, but it has worked out well for us in the long run, but not for old Bas.

Bas is a lovely fella, and quite intelligent and articulate, which leaves me baffled and scratching my head as to why he employs the agent that he does. I have spoken to Bas' agent, and will confirm that the bloke is a complete prat.
Having said that he is intelligent, when he came in to buy a t-shirt for his girlfriend - bearing in mind I had never met her - he did ask me, with a straight face, 'what size should I buy for her...? He then couldn't understand why I couldn't answer that question all that easily.
