In fact your statement is implicitly racist as most countries to an exstent have a racial mix.

i.e. if I said keep the Brazilians out and you say thats Racist then you are implying/thinking Brazilians= non whites.

Whites = Northern European
Brazilians = Hispanic or African orgins

so you could quite correctly say that they are non white's.

And another thing .... about discrimination ... I have decided I'm really pissed off about all the money spent on facilities for the disabled ... kerbs lowered at intersections, etc. etc. That's my money as a taxpayer and I object it being spent just to make life easier for a small percentage of the population who happen to be disabled. I'm sorry they're disabled, but spending millions just to make their life a bit easier doesn't add up. And before anyone asks ... if I was disabled I certainly wouldn't expect the taxpayer to cough up. Life would be difficult ... I'd live with it.

This whole debate rather angers me. I think everyone would agree that the laws need tightening up TO SOME EXTENT. But the reactionary, common denominator card being played out by the RW parties only enhances ill informed, incorrect debate on the one hand and on the other pure racsim (depending on the person). Anthen alot of unneccessary infightin as a whole.

We have to provide support to war torn or corrupted citezins of whatever country - they are suffering some terrible atrocities and if we can help, even if it is just with a bit of respite then we are doing our job as one of the worlds richest and affluent countries. We cannot let these people suffer like this and then ignore atrocities (which we are every day).

On the otehr hand we cant let everybody in. Its almost a rhetorical question - but I doubt a points system would do our role ijustice.

We claim to be one of the leaders of the free world, yet we force democracy on other countries as if we were annexing them. We are/have been involved, in some part , in large percentage of wars/disputes over the past 100 years or so. We cannot be claiming to be free without actually helping those that suffer as a direct or indirect result oif our actions. That, I'm afraid is bullying.

Just a point to Goldstone re; lowered pavements etc........They aren,t just lowered for the disabled........it,s for mothers with push chairs, to help designate a safer area to cross roads, and of course not least......the elderly......you know....those people who went through a world war so we,d have a better country to live in.
