Didn't have to declare far sooner - about 20 minutes earlier would have done it. There was nothing to tempt Kent at all

Agree, another 8 overs or so of us bowling at them and we could have won this.

In and amongst the dreadful uncertainties we are currently going through it is reassuring that Sussex are back to the good old days of being rubbish at County Cricket.

Chasing 320 in, say, 92 overs would have been tempting. Yes, we may have lost but this is a Kent second XI ... and Finch going for runs would, sooner or later, get out. If we'd set them that sort of target, I think we could have won it.

We also went too slowly the evening before - Head should have gone in before some bloke making his debut and Haines should have been told to get a move on. Not good cricket from Sussex, I'm afraid.

(talking of Trout, I'm reminded of the time when Kent left Sussex 220 to get in 25 overs and Sussex had a go ... they lost but there was a sense of adventure)
