The population of Sussex in the last census was over 1.5 Million. if the club start to decide that it might be worth trying to divide up this market in geographical areas and then give targets to individuals to sell the club to that area of Sussex then they might make some sales. If they do this then crowds at Falmer will be health, no matter how badly the team is doing.

If however they continue with the current (and past - the club has never sold the club to its market) lack of ambition in its marketing strategy, then crowds will be between 6-12,000 at Falmer, with the odd big crowd for a big game.

The ball is in the clubs court. The albion are 15 years behind Charlton and Palace on the marketing front. However the albion have a catchment area the envy of most, and a history that shows that big crowds have turned up. It is a press myth that places like Brighton, Newhaven, Shoreham, Worthing and the rest of the coastal towns are not football areas. they are, and always have been, as are places like Burgess Hill. its just that its not trendy in the press to say so.

Its a real shame that the Chairman of the Albion, have, with the exception of Mike Bamber failed to bother to sell the club. I expect however Dick Knight is just biding his time until Falmer and then he might start to sell the club to its 1.5 million potential customers.

I remember the late 80's when Charlton getting 3,000 to 6,000, Newcastle 12-15,000, Sunderland 10,000 to 15,000, all at a time when albion ere getting about 9,000. Its time for the club to stop sitting on their hands and play catch up.
