It doesn't help that the West Stand is kinda more South West, East Stand is more North East, South Stand is South East and North Stand is North West.

So shoot me. Driving out of Brighton towards Lewes I just assumed the stand closest to me on the right was the west stand. The opposite and bigger one which is waiting for the arch I thought was east.

I have visited the site a dozen times but clearly I don't know my arse from my elbow or arch from my elbow maybe.

I presume you have not read anything on NSC either

Can't believe that there are people still coming on here after all this time and still don't know the basic facts about our new home re east/west/north/south.

To be fair the stadium is positioned diagonally on the compass, so none of the stands are truly north, east, south or west.

And, re: the geography of the place, I haven't got the foggiest. All I know is that it looks ruddy marvellous

If you take it that the A27 runs east-west / west-east, then the stands of the stadium are quite self-explanatory really. I had a prolongued and futile argument with my dad trying to explain that the (little) south stand is indeed SOUTH stand and not the East stand.

Its hard work sometimes.

What are the large concrete tubes being sunk into the ground?

I asked that very question to a workman who was nearby.
He said it is for a retaining wall!
He added that whoever is in charge of retaining walls came up with this "strange" idea.
I'll be watching this retaining wall grow with interest.

Great photos again, Graeme. That West Stand truly is a right monster. Looks as high as the Millennium Stadium. Think my choice will be East, as I was on the top tier at Cardiff, and it wasn't half high. Congratulations on the award as well.
