That's a completely redundant arguement that gets trotted out time and time again in defence of whoever is being criticised at the time. It's a bit like saying "Hendrix didn't write All Along The Watchtower so his rendition of it is crap."

It doesn't matter who writes a song, or who performs it. What matters is whether it's any bloody good or not.

Fair enough, a valid point, but I happen to think he is pretty good.

The issue with Jack Johnson is people go around saying ridiculous things like "he's the modern day Bob Dylan" which is utter tripe.
