Fantastic Hiney, last year in the winter nets Chris Waller coached me. I have to thank him for my 47 wickets this season, he has really improved my game.

Chris Waller coached me too in 1979, converting me from someone who had never even played for the school team to a place in the Sussex U-19 squad.

The man is a GOD

Somewhere I've got the whole Man Utd 79 team (I think) of Martin Buchan, Steve Coppell, the Greenhoff brothers, Sammy McIlroy, Lou Macari, Gordon McQueen etc. etc. PLUS Sir Matt Busby and Dave Sexton. They're in the loft somewhere and may be worth a bob or two??

Busby was a true gentleman who told me his 'favorite' player was a certain Mr. George Best

I was the first person to tell Ian Botham he was in the England squad whilst collecting autographs outside the Langlands hotel in 1978 (?) when Sussex were playing Zummerset in a JPL game one Sunday

Chris Waller is a bit of a legend, though my limited ability proved too much for his coaching genius.

I remember trying to get Rod Marsh's autograph along with another kid of about 10 in the 70s at Hove. The amenable Aussie told us both to f*** o**'. Probably shouldn't have asked him to sign himself 'Short fat pisshead'.

Ah, but can you beat Bruce Forsyth?

I got him when I was a kid, and other pro-celebrity golf circuit "legends" such as:

Tarby
Kenny Lynch
Roger DeCourcey (and Nookie Bear)
The bloke with the comedy emu act (not Rod Hull, the other, alive, one)
The shame!

I also got a load of proper golfers like Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Bernhard Langer and Seve.

I had Bobby Charlton, Geoff Hurst, Alan Ball, Geoff Boycott and Fred Trueman. And I have a postcard signed by Don Bradman.

All this- yet by far the most treasured one in my collection was the former Albion captain Danny Wilson.

Very well, I'll see your Leslie Crowther, and raise you one Lionel Blair

I just remembered the name of the comedy emu guy: Bernie Clifton
