Yes he is - very much so, probably intentionally.

I listened to a documentary about on the radio a while back.

He was also a Nazi at some point at well, due to the author writing under the regime and not wishing to piss off those in power.

I understand he regretted the Nazi bit later, but didn't have a lot of choice.

(That's the author not TinTin)

Belgium's only famous real person, Jean Paul Van Dam was in a gay movie at the start of his career.

What about Asterix and Obelix? The village's star warriors, they should have had flighty young gallic maidens throwing themselves forward...

they did didn't they?

Tintin was a knobber though..

:mad:Tis grave offence to me goggles to see such spite. Tintin is a dear friend of mine but doesn't tamper with testicles or caper with cod pieces. I'm shocked to discover this sinister thread buried under many pants since posted.

Confound you to blazes you shivering shingles, you!!!

Spielberg'll set things STRAIGHT, mark my words, you squabbling squids!

:mad::mad::censored::censored:

(By the way, that picture is innocent...we were celebrating receipt of West Ham tickets arriving through the post, so stuff that in yer pipe and smoke it you stuttering starfish....er, actually make that stuttering swordfish!

Well done Haddock say it as it is!

:clap2::clap2::clap2:

I think wikipedia may provide some answers here...

"Totor, Patrol Leader of the Cockchafers is the first comic strip series written by Hergé who later wrote The Adventures of Tintin. It was published in Le Boy Scout Belge in 1926 and tells of a boy scout called Totor on his adventures. The character would play a large part of inspiration for Tintin, and the idea of a scout was chosen because, firstly it was for a scouting magazine, and secondly because Herge had a great love of the movement."

Oh, and wikipedia also helpfully provides a photo of Hergé, real name Georges Prosper Remi...
