Yes, he just needs time. A full pre season to impose his own style of play and tactics would vastly improve current performances.

Hold the front page - Stumpy Tim agrees with Gareth Glover !.

How is it down under my friend ?.

Even when we were top, it was obvious to most that we were not playing well enough to sustain that position. IMHO I think we are in or about our correct position in the league at the moment.

To be brutally frank this squad is not good enough to win this league. I believe it is capable of a play off spot but that is about it. We lack depth in nearly every position, and in particular midfield. Given our financial circumstances there is little MM can do about it at the moment, and that's why needs time. To have a chance to put his own stamp on the squad, the best opportunity for this will come at contract renewal time in the summer.

As for style of play, under Coppout at the beginning of the season were almost exclusively long ball, and whilst there is still a lot of that there has been a subtle change in the style of play. we have at times tried to pass it around, and I personally believe this is the way MM wants us to go.

I think the bright spots for the future remain El-Abd, Robinson and Piercy who has responded very well to MM's arrival.

Anyway bring on Barnsley!

Give him some more time, he is with us for 2 years providing the slide doesn't continue.

Ian Holloway has taken two years to get his QPR side to the position they are - they were on the slide and financially going to the dogs. Why can't people see that calling for MM's head so soon is just ridiculous. At this point after so much change we need stability more than anything. Judge him when he has been given time and money to form a squad of his own making!

In addition to losing Coppell, we also lost Rodger at about the same time. We have never really replaced him. Yeates and Rehman have flattered to deceive and our finishing has been a lot less sharp than earlier in the season.

Not McGhee's fault in my opinion

I say give him time. This season really needs to be written off as rebuilding. If we make the playoffs (which we probably will) then great. Most people pre season, were saying playoffs not automatic. I personally will be happy with that. Once the Falmer decision comes, there will be a boost in morale. Just think if we are all feeling apathetic (with the Withdean crowds dropping etc) then the players must feel it too.
Once McGhee has had this season to settle in I truley beleive that we will be promotion candidates next season. He is proven at this level, give him time, he will come good.
Player investment though is a must, only time will tell.

Llsing Rodger was a huge blow, add that to the fact that we honoured Blackwells contract (seems very strange now) and there are two first team players that we a paying tahat haven't been available to McGhee.

It was probably Bookers decision to get Rehman again and Flitney has used up 2 loans (?) because of our unfortunate goalkeeping situation.

If McGhee had a bit more available to him things would be very different IMHO.

It's nobodys fault it is just how things have turned out for us this year, perfectly summed up by our luck on saturday (regarding the handball).

Exactly. Even if we had the money to pay him off, changing the manager again would have an even more unsettling effect on the team.

Give him time. We're not in danger in the bottom 5.

As far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on McGhee, although personally I'm disappointed with the way the team have responded since he took over.

There are some poor teams in this division, so for us to have won only 3 league games since he took over is, in my opinion, below par.

However, we've got no money and the loans are almost used up, so all he can do is to motivate what we've got and maybe give the youth a run out.

It's interesting that of the players who've done ok this season, most are relatively recent acquisitions (Knight, Roberts, Butters). The real disappointments have been the long-standing players like Hart, Mayo and Watson.

I think the Withdean / Falmer situation, relegation and the constant flow of loans in and out has worn these players down.

I believe the Dowie would have been the right choice as manager because he is an inspirational figure. Coppell had excellent tactical nous - I'm not sure whether McGhee is particularly strong in either department from what I've seen, but he hasn't had a chance to build his team yet.
