looked a bit battered really - but said lots of good stuff.

feels like he has ripped into the players....comments of ".....or you will be out of the football club" etc.

i don't feel good about the Ipswich game as confidence is now low, and a hammering there will really hurt us. a good low scoring draw will do.

A good result at Ipswich won't heal the wounds but it'll be a start.

Probably working!
Gus Poyet has called for his players to prove their quality with a complete performance against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The Albion boss admits that his side have been below-par during the past three league games, but still just two points off the top of the table, he has backed his players to hit back at Portman Road this weekend.

Poyet told seagulls.co.uk, "We are not a terrible team because of the last few results. I'm just looking for us to defend better by being more solid at the back, and then we will win football games. We are only two points from the top.

"If the players cannot get the defeats out of their system they will be out of this football club. It's simple. If they cannot move on they are not good enough for us.

"I want to know why we see one Brighton team in the second half when we are losing and another team when we are winning. That's down to the mentality of the players. We need to be a team for the whole game and we have not done that for a few matches now.

"Playing at Ipswich is a great game us to play and it's another very difficult place to go and play football. The most important thing is that we need to keep playing football for the full 95 minutes. My team needs to play football, but if they stop playing they have got to be solid at the back."

The Uruguayan also asked people to judge his side from a season's perspective and not from just the recent league games.

"It does not matter how good you think you are, you are going to lose games throughout the season, it just depends how you do throughout the 46 games in a league season. The teams that maintain the two-points-a-game rhythm will finish up there so we need to be ready for a fight.

"Ipswich will be up near the top so it's another important game for us. They have got plenty of experience and youth in their team and they have got a chance if they keep everyone fit."

I hope that the performance on saturday is better, and we start showing that belief we had last season.

The omens are good, last season when we went through our dodgy patch all our rivals failed to take advantage. The same is happening again!

I know last tuesday was beyond poor, but things are not all that bad, I honestly think that game will make us better for the rest of the season, we are already surpassing most peoples expectations by being 2pts off the top. Yes it is a very long way to go, but I have faith that Gus will see us better than alright.

He was fine, his usual chirpy self. Before 'questions' he was joking about the late comers we had to wait for (no names mentioned) and talked a little about Barcelona.

If I'm honest I can see us going downhill for now.

That is just silly. Why?

Gus can say what he wants now. It's his Albion career that is forever tarnished, nobody elses. I certainly won't remember Ryan Harley's or Ashley Barnes' contribution to Tuesday night in ten years' time, but Gus will forever be the man who gave away our pride by overseeing such a pathetic spectacle and let that team be the first to win at The Amex.

Hooray........welcome back...!

The past 15 months, while we have been enjoying so much success, on and off the pitch, have been sadly missing your wonderful and contentious posts following defeats.

I for one, have found my Saturday evenings less than fulfilled with your absence.

Highly entertaining....but not to be taken too seriously if you are of a weak disposition.

I think an away win on saturday is absolutely nailed on. We're going to go there with only one intention and I think we'll nick the early goal and then go and turn them over and people will be asking what the problem was. The Palace performance was probably due, we'd had spells of it against Blackpool (after they'd scored their first), against Liverpool for the first half and the first half against Leeds aswell, it was coming and tuesday night we had a stinker. I don't think there's any chance we'll play that badly again, and on saturday we will win.
