It's way cheaper in the States ($199) for the 16GB but you are locked into a 2 year contract with AT&T.

That f***ing sucks! Even for people upgrading from an existing tariff?

Going to be 500mb which o2 think only something like only 3% go over anyway

So using that, best way to get 32gb would be to buy phone outright and get a simplicity tariff from o2? Only downside is o2 said not doing PAYG phones at launch might have to wait a month or two. Going to wait for Tesco to release prices before committing

The folks in Britain may have to hang on a bit longer as iPhone 4 seems to be going the same way as the iPad. Initial pre-order demand in the States is way higher than expected and AT&T have suspended new orders under supply catches up with demand.
