For totting up 10 yellow cards.

He also missed our match in December, for totting up 5 yellow cards...
Just a question….if in the first half of the season a player goes into a match with three bookings and gets two yellows (a red) do either of those bookings count in the totting-up process? Logically I assume they can’t as it’d be a case of double jeopardy. Would it be any different going into a game with 4 yellows?

If a player is cautioned twice in a match (and therefore gets sent off) neither caution counts in the totting up process.

It is possible, of course, to be shown a yellow card for an offence and then be shown a straight red card for a different offence in the same match. In those circumstances I think the caution still stands and would count in the totting up process.

Just checked our yellow card stats, and Minteh has the most at 6.

You are correct about being shown a yellow and then a straight red. Both count towards the card count for the season. It’s what happened to Lewis Dunk when he was sent off against Forest.

It’s also worth remembering there are separate totting up process for each competition and yellow cards only count in the competition they are awarded in. So yellow cards in the FA Cup don’t count towards the totting up process in the Premier League etc. Red cards do carry across through all domestic first team football no matter what competition they are awarded in (there is another separate disciplinary process for European competitions).

Igor's Instagram this morning. He's currently on holiday in Brazil, and has put up pics / videos of him doing gym work - but from this ("getting closer and closer") I wonder if he'll be back training soon.

It has felt like injuries are easing, but that’s still 7, possibly 8 out. Kadioglu, Dunk, Igor, Veltman could be a starting quality back 4.

Yep. No news about Gruda . I think he was ill last week so perhaps he's back.
Hurzeler was bullish about Dunk and O Riley . Suggested they could both be back for Forest.

re: injuries. indicates depth of squad. Even without that 7/8 out - its still a particularly strong bench.
Welbeck, Gomez, Wieffer, Adingra, March is a pretty solid back up . Whereas last season when we had similar injury woes we were playing u21s off the bench.

Apologies for cross posting but Tariq has been left out of Ghana's squad this month purportedly due to an ankle sprain. https://www.ghanafa.org/twelve-players-left-out-of-black-stars-squad-due-to-injury Doesn't chime with Fabian saying he's available for Saturday's game.
Maybe he'll get a "sprain" on Saturday, towards the end of the match when we bring on Weiffer.
Then he can rest up and be ok for the FA Cup quarter final.
You know we have a new medical team and they are getting much better at predicting injuries.

I tell you what, with the general consensus (I think) at the moment being that injuries aren't too bad and this being backed up by the form of the team, and then you look at the quality of those 9 players that aren't available this weekend, it says an awful lot about the strenght in depth of this current squad.
