Nooo we don't want anything of Palace near us.

Thing is the Lewes residents (which incl Newhaven) dont want this but they council are expected to rubber stamp this.

Yet they will try and put us under even tho the majority of residents dont want them to stop Falmer.

In London village.
Alternatively let Brighton village incinerate it's own crap.

The decision will be taken by East Sussex County Council, not Lewes District Council.

At least ESCC kept well away from all the Falmer Public Inquiries.

Should LDC win a judicial review and stop us developing Falmer it would make an ideal site for an incinerator as the smell will mix with the country smells and bulls..t and could be staffed cheaply by building a hostel for illegal immigrants near Falmer Station.

What smell?

Having lived for 9 years within a mile of an incinerator I can tell you that there is no smell.

I would say fear of the unknown.

I am hardly going to stand in the middle of Newhaven and say I am not worried about it.

To be honest it doesn't look any worse than anything else down by the river.

People are only too willing to believe this sort of thing ...

Statement by Michael Meacher, Environment Minister, to the House of Lords inquiry on 14 April 1999:

"Incinerator plants are the source of serious toxic pollutants: dioxins; furans; acid gases; particulates; heavy metals; and they all need to be treated very seriously."

"There must be absolute priority given to human health requirements and protection of the environment."

"I repeat, the emissions from incinerator processes are extremely toxic. Some of the emissions are carcinogenic. We know, scientifically, that there is no safe threshold below which we can allow such emissions. We must use every reasonable instrument to eliminate them altogether."

But we dont want to make deepest industrial newhaven worse! I mean presumabally it will open up jobs, but, while i cant think of any where off the top of me head, there must somewhere within Brighton's city councils jurisdiction (sp) they could stick it?

There were protests at Huddersfield originally when it was first brought up.

I don't know the figures for health around Huddersfield but I don't remember it as a hot bed of cancer.
