Having listened to Ince's pre- and post-match interviews mentioning the number of loanees Notts Co have and the largely negative effect this has; and Gus' comments regarding getting the right player in to not disrupt team morale etc it got me thinking as to how loanees do actually reflect on league placings.
Forgive me if it's not quite up to date, but this table gives an idea of the number of loanees per club in the league. Although it's hardly conclusive, there are some things that are quite interesting. In particular, the fact that Huddersfield are the only club in the top 10 to have the maximum 6 loanees. Also, us and Saints are 2 of only 5 teams (including Plymouth who are a slight anomaly given their circumstances) to only have one loanee at the club. There are of course many other factors that influence this, but it seems on the whole that it is a case of more loanees = lower league standing. Obviously these may well change by the end of the day, but I thought it was quite interesting to see the real impact of loanees on league placings.
