If you are going to buy lots of clothes my tip would be to take over an almost empty suitcase, wear whatever you buy so it doesn't look brand new (ie: labels and price tags still attached), that way if customs search you on your return you won't get stung for import tax. Not sure what the limit is at the moment but I seem to remember it being £140 some time ago, a pair of Timberland boots or a couple of pairs of half decent jeans would eat that up.

Where are you going? If you're off to New York go to Woodbury Common. Was there last week and spent more there than I did on the flights. Nike trainers for £10, Gap shirts for £3. Will need an empty suitcase (though you can get them cheap there too).
