Newbury, Berkshire.
As far as I see it he waived the clause in the contract.

Which means he can't go back on it, even if he'd like to.

Benefit of Mr Hindsight, eh Simon ?

It'll be laughed out of court.

from what i can see is that dowie broke a "gentlemans agreement" by saying he wanted to move up north

as simon jordan is as much of a gentleman as i am a one legged female porn star called trixie, any gentlemans agreement with him is VOID

Not quite as simple as that old fella. Dowie had a £1m clause in his contract that if he left for another club that club would have to pay that amount to buy him out of his Palace deal. Dowie apparently went to Jordan saying he wanted to leave because he had been away from his wife and kids for 2 and a half years and wanted to go back up north. Jordan (cos he is all bad!) said he could understand that and said to make it as smooth as possible he would waive the million pounds. He asked Dowie that if he was going to Charlton he would have to reinstate the clause and apparently Dowie told him that he would no way go to Charlton he was going back to be with his family. Now would you be pissed off if you were Jordan or would you be wishing Iain all the best with his new job 7 miles up the road?! Yes he should have been more tactful issuing the writ but the fact remains he has been sold down the river and is entitled to the £1m

Sounds to me like Jordan's just been out-maneouvred. Unless he has a legal document which says compensation is waived unless Dowie goes to Charlton.

In the immortal words of Sam Goldwyn, a verbal contract isn't worth the paper it's written on. (I know a verbal contract can be binding but how do you ever prove it).

This isn't the first time Jordan's whined about being shafted by his managers. Why doesn't he spend less time on telly and more time drawing up some legally-enforceable small print.

(By the way, AJLM, will you be changing your name?)

I personally think that Dowie has been out of order and that he has shafted Simon Jordon. But I'll tell you what, its as funny as f***!!!!!!!!!!!:lolol:

But as he said he has proof of what Dowie said and he will prove it in the High Court, so he wont be shafted for long! :drink:

For what it's worth, if Dowie did say this, then I hope SJ gets his £1m that he's entitled to.

We all go on about the wrongs of the game, but IF Jordan has done the decent thing to Dowie on the basis of his family life suffering, then it's bang out of order for him to be shafted for trying to do the right thing.

The upshot of this would be that he us unlikely to be so understanding in the future. So, the losers are all football supporters in the long run, as it just reinforces the nagative views about the corrupt, sleazy game that we all love.

OK, it's Palace and we can laugh, but imagine how we would feel if it happened to us eh!!!!

I think SJ has the right to take whatever measures he feels necessary. However, he conducts himself like a 10 year old.

Why serve the writ at the press conference? Publicity that's why!

Why go on SSN? Publicity!

He is full of his own self importance more than representing his club. He quite rightly is defending what he believes the agreement with Dowie was based on but he is going about it the wrong way.

Perhaps he should try and get Curbishley to manage his club instead??

AJLM you'll soon be singing "mick McCarthy's red and blue army". :lolol::lolol:

Whats the problem, he has gone 'up north' although 12 miles. Anyone notice that Jordan now looks like the love child of David Dickenson and Tango man.......
