Really? I thought there was a fair amount of realism on here, and a desire not to get carried away (not like NSC, I know, but there it is!)

Yeh I think there is in the whole. I just know how this place over reacts to defeats - no doubt they'll be out when we do lose!

...and I am by no means confident, after Tuesday's agony...

We would have 31 points after 13 games.

Previous Championship stats at the same point in the season:

14-15 Derby 26 Finished 8th Aaaargh
2nd Watford 26, 3rd 'Boro 23, 7th Charlton 22 – 4 points between 7th and 1st

13-14 Burnley 32 2nd
2nd Leicester 29, 3rd QPR 28, 7th Watford 22 – 10 points between 7th and 1st

12-13 Cardiff 28 Champs
2nd Leicester 25, 3rd 'Boro 25, 7th Forest 21 – 7 points between 7th and 1st

11-12 So'ton 27 2nd
2nd WHU 24, 3rd 'Boro 24, 7th Hull 21 – 6 points between 7th and 1st

10-11 QPR 29 Champs
2nd Cardiff 29, 3rd Swansea 23, 7th Burnley 20 – 9 points between 7th and 1st

9-10 WBA 24 2nd
2nd Newcastle 24, 3rd Cardiff 23, 7th Forest 22 – 2 points between 7th and 1st

8-9 B'ham 30 2nd
2nd Wolves 28, 3rd Reading 24, 7th Swansea 20 – 10 points between 7th and 1st

7-8 Watford 32 6th Aaaargh
2nd Bristol 26, 3rd WBA 23, 7th Plymouth 20 – 12 points between 7th and 1st

6-7 Cardiff 29 13th Aaaargh
2nd Preston 26, 3rd WBA 25, 7th Plymouth 21 – 8 points between 7th and 1st

5-6 Sheffield U 33 2nd
2nd Reading 30, 3rd Luton 24, 7th Watford 19 – 14 points between 7th and 1st

4-5 Wigan 27 2nd
2nd Reading 26, 3rd QPR 26, 7th Stoke 20 – 7 points between 7th and 1st

So you tend not to get top spot from where we are, apparently. Anyway, Preston will stuff us Saturday, just like I predicted Bristol City would stuff us last Tuesday...

Wanted to have a look at how the league tables shaped up in those situations, and whether there was anything in the points gaps, but it is just very random....

If we get 3 points then 21 more wins needed

Nice. 21 from 33. That's an average of 1.91 points a game for the rest of the season vs 2.33 up to now.

Hmm, sounds do-able..

Cos I think CH got it right when the [God-like] man said we can get better, have room for improvement....

I just want us to beat Preston. That's all I focus on. We have some tough assignments after that game- Reading away, Sheffield Wednesday- where we've never won- away and so on. Be nice to go into those games still holding on to the momentum.

Balls it up on Saturday, however, then do our usual trick being terrible at Hillsborough and suddenly everyone will be telling us the bubble has burst.

I think the only way to avert the Evil Eye is to prominently feature a Stay-up-o-Meter thread.

50 points and safety!

I wonder if Mark Lawrenson will be at the Amex on Saturday to see the team of the 'murment' play his beloved PNE?

Wasn't there a year in the 1990s around 1994 or 1995 where Millwall were top at Xmas and ended up being relegated ?

Yep,was 95-96 season, got relegated on last day of the season.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995–96_in_English_football

Not quite true, they weren't in the top 6 by the end of December but were top at the end of November (acording to the wiki entry quoted above). It was after Mick McCarthy left the club for the ROI job - that's some decline though

There's gonna be a lot of people ready to give it the bubble has burst line when we lose a game or two. Big test for us is how we bounce back. If we can lose a game or two but bounce back on another winning run, I think that's when we'll really start to think we could be onto something here.

Balls it up Saturday and we need to take it on the chin, be noisy still, clap them off, be incredibly positive from the stands, and send them into the next games with belief still ringing in their ears!

Are we going to do this thread every week?

Last week these stats told us that we were DEFINITELY going up. Are you now saying that we're DOOMED?
