Seriously, is it against the rules to START a game with 10 men and then bring on the 11th half way through the half say? That would allow fresh legs to be introduced too, perhaps at a strategic time.

you must have 8 players to start the game, bringing additional players on will not be used as a substitution but its just not logical to start with less than 11 players if you have them available
