Ah so is the young English lad we let go despite scoring all the goals. Vaguely remember the thread.

Thought we offered him something but he was an AFC Wimbledon fan and went there. More likely to succeed there I spose too

Talk of developing youth players got me thinking, anyone know if this joined up in the end?

Yes Callum supposedly had offers from West Brom and Man City, but he's a Wimbledon supporter so he went to them instead.

If it's the Icelandic kid you're on about, he signed a scholarship with the club.

Obviously I wish him well, but I suspect the offers were of trials rather than contracts with West Brom and Man City, making his decision a wee bit easier.

From football rumours, so most prob nonsense.

27 Jun 2013 22:06:15

Reading have been given assurances that their application for Category 1 status is on track. They hope to have it formalised over the summer.

Reading have already started looking to utilise their Category 1 status by bringing in players from clubs with Category 2 and 3 status.

Their first signing will be 15 year old Icelandic youngster Ragnar Mr Lrusson who signed for Brighton on a scholarship in April and is due to link up with the side over the summer.

John Morling is said to be "furious" that Reading have been able to poach this player and is doing everything possible to stop the move happening, but Reading have convinced Lrusson that he could be the "next Gylfi Sigurdsson". They have offered him a two year scholarship with a further one year professional deal.

I swear Reading are doing this just to peeees us off. Hand off Reading. You already nicked Wayne Bridge. Need to stand our ground and not roll over.

I think that Academies are catagorised, and it allows certain clubs to get other academy players on the cheap. Hopefully when our new academy is complete, this will not be the case.

Reading are cat 1, we are cat 2. Think that cat 1 can pick up pretty much whoever they want from cat 2 for peanuts. Having said that I am probably mistaken.
