I have sinned, for some reason I went to Crystal Palace park yesterday, I am truly sorry for doing this and I regret it.

Please can NSC forgive me in there heart of hearts :(

A couple of weeks ago, roz and I actually took up one of those offers to come and sit through a two hour long - no obligation - presentation about exciting new ways to take holidays.

The deal came down to us being expected to hand over a few grand up-front, in exchange for which we'd have 99 years of entitlement to cheap holidays in luxury venues all over the world.

Where it all went wrong for the poor salesman was when he opened the brochure at random and out jumped the details of a five star holiday complex in Martinique or some such place - The Crystal Palace it was called.

No thank you, we decided.

PS If anyone wants a £250 voucher that can be put towards the price of a luxury cruise, it's yours for the taking. Just post a message on this thread.

I think you'll find that the hotel in question is in The Bahamas. We used the casino there last year. Regrettably I can report, once again, we were stuffed by the Palace...

I will take the vouchers off you LB as my sister always goes on cruises if thats okay.
The voucher is yours, SeagullinKent. I've sent you a PM.

Who'd have thought it? Weekend ruined by a visit to Crystal Palace. And then it all turns out OK with the opportunity to cleanse your family's sins in the warm waters of the Caribbean.

:) :) :)

We went to a similar presentation not so long ago, set up in a shabby office in East Grinstead with a temporary feel to it. The salesmen were a bunch of sad old men who smoked too much. How we laughed when we received our "free" holiday.

What a waste of time - just like those text messages you get saying "this is the seond time we've tried to contact you etc etc"

I've come across two bars called 'Crystal Palace' in recent football-related trips abroad. One was in Athlone the year before the Battle of Longford, and one was in Charleroi hours after the Battle of Plastic Chairs in the square (neither of which, I hasten to add, I was involved in). There is a mature photographic record of both indicating full respect for our rivals.
