No thread on this yet, and I just need a little bit of advice from people who are going/have been before:

What did you do pre-match? Straight to Huddersfield for a few drinks or stop elsewhere? I'm thinking about getting the train to Manchester then staying there for a few hours before hoping on the rattler to Huddersfield. Anyone else got plans yet?

Never been to Huddersfield before, fella.

Decent enough for pubs up there?

The Gas Club is probably one of my favourite pubs at an away game, a nicker to get in and cheap drinks (five pints for under a tenner), never felt the need to go anywhere else in Hudddersfield. Shame I'm missing it.

The Gas Club it may well be then.

Seems to work out cheaper to break the train journey up going via Manchester.

The pub at the railway station is superb as well

There is a pub next door, chain pub type with cheapish food and drinks.

How naive of me (although I was told by someone it's "very rough" there who normally knows their stuff). Straight to Huddersfield it is then!

As i live in Huddersfield, for pre match drinking there are many good venues to choose from -

The sportsman just round from the station itself also by the station the Head of Steam and the Kings head are good quality boozers especially if you like your real ale.

Gas club near the stadium is quite good .

Still within 20 mins walk of the stadium are the Rat and Ratchett and the Star inn. both good real ale houses and pretty friendly too.

Or if you want something really cheap and cheerful there is the obligatory Wetherspoons teh cherry tree not far from the station on the way into teh town centre.

Slubbers arms isn't bad but it's in a bit of a dodgy area.

Will be happy to give advice to anyone who wants any.

Pubs to avoid i would say would be the Vulcan although not a bad pub on match days it's very home club focussed and best avoided.
