Thats a pretty cool stat. Obviously the old saying "Lies, lies and statistics" comes into play a little, (If there were ZERO people went to Brighton games we could not possibly drop below 56 in the list!) but cool nevertheless...

Not quite as impressive if you look at empty seats as a %age of total capacity, though. And I imagine we've been better than this for each of the previous 3 or 4 seasons, haven't we?

When I looked at this the other day I was impressed at Newcastle and Charlton having crowds above their capacity...

Does this mean it's easier to get a ticket to watch Arsenal than it is to get a ticket to watch Albion?

I wish I'd never posted that link.....

Indeed. Villa too I notice.

Have a look at Bolton's figures. Their capacity is listed as 27,879, and their highest attendance this season is listed as 27,880.

How did the extra bloke manage to sneak in I wonder?

Leyton Orient - less than a third full... :lolol:

As much as it's good fun to take the piss out of the Os - they have been a little let down by ITV not taking into account their capacity is somewhere around 5000 now as a result of their 'redevelopment'.

Oh sod it. Carry on.

Just to put an FA Cup angle to this thread .... There have been two schools of thought on the Spurs game. One arguement is that we'll get a big allocation (maybe more than the 15% we're entitled to) and there will be loads of spare tickets because Premiership fans won't pay top dollar to watch a third-rate team where the result is a foregone conclusion. The other arguement is that people are so desparate for tickets that they'll jump at the chance to go, even if it is only to see their side play against a third-rate team where the result is a foregone conclusion.

I see Spurs are 497 seats shy of capacity or 98.6% full. In both respects this is better than us! This would tend to support the view that tickets will be at a premium, however would we sell out Withdean if we were playing say Peterborough in the Cup?

I find it amazing that Wigan who at the moment look odds on to be one of the two automatic promoted teams to the premiership next season only fill 38½% of their ground

Assuming they do get promoted they will make a packet if they put the away supporters in the home end and vice versa next year

That's what I was thinking. What's their capacity?

How and more importantly WHY did they get planning persmission for a ground that big?

The capacity of the new ground (opened in 2003) is 27,500

check out these stats!

Record & Average Attendance
At The New Stadium:
11,600 v Kidderminster Harriers
Division 3, August 16th 2003.

At Feethams:
21,023 v Bolton Wanderers,
League Cup 3rd Round, November 14th, 1960.

Average Attendance:
2003-2004: 5,023 (Division Three)
2002-2003: 3.312 (Division Three)
2001-2002: 4,107 (Division Three)

This means that they were given planning permission for a stadium 6,477 bigger than there record attendance. This was achieved over 40 years ago!!! I can only assume that they ground share with a rugby team?

If not then can we swap stadiums with them as they can't even fill Withdean!!!

Just done some quick sums.

If we take their record attendance as a percentage of the new ground capacity it would be like us getting a 48960 which is about the size of the stadium of light!

George Reynolds dream was to make Darlington a force in the Premiership. He was going to make them as big as Middlesbrough and the new stadium was a major part of his dream.

He talked about getting "5,000 supporters off Sunderland and 5,000 off Middlesbrough" as if you could just buy up fans. So he moved Darlington from Feethams, which served them perfectly well and had just been re-developed, and placed them in the monstrosity that is their new ground.

Parts of the ground were built on the cheap because Reynolds ran out of money during its construction. Parts of it are already rusting away. Nearly a 1/3rd of the stadium is closed because of the lack of supporters. It's right outside of Darlington with little public transport links and a car-park that costs 5 quid a car to use.
