i dyed once but it effected my roots and i now have a red tinge to my hair. never willl do it again

Never. Thankfully, I've never been in a situation to 'die' on an operating table because I've never had an operation that required me to be more than in the magical happy floaty place that some of the local anaestecias send you...

Doesn't your brain have to also be dead to be technically dead?

I think once the brain is dead, there is no coming back from that.
For the brain to die, it must be starved of blood and oxygen. i.e. heart and lungs both stopped.

And, know I didn't make it up [honest]. I seem to recall an anecdote of years ago that someone got off driving without due care and attention (crashed into the back of another car) claiming they were not in control due to sneezing - the expert witness (doctor) said you're dead whilst sneezing!
