Here's an idea ... why dont we make some signings at the beginning of the transfer window rather than wait until its about to close :p and miss out?

4 - 3 midfielders (need to start again here) and a 3rd striker (Fleetwood?)

How soon is now?
Ideally we'll hang onto Richards, or get him on a permanent deal for a nominal fee. I'm disappointed we didn't get anything for Thomson(expect possible sell ons and success payments) considering he's going to an SPLteam and we paid for him. A decent central midielder would be nice, and it would be good for Adams to decide where Virgo is best and stick to it - and if he's playing crap, then drop him. Hopefully we'll hang onto Murray and perhaps find another striker around his age to challenge him and Forster for a place. Johnson will go onto bigger and better things, its been good that he's been here but I can't see us hanging onto him. Not seen enough of Thornton, but it seems strange to get these players in and not play them. How much longer have we got Fleetwood for?

Good in theory but sought after players will want to get the best deal and see who else comes in for them. Plus, down at our end of the league, we have to wait to see what crumbs fall off the 'big boys' table. If a Championship club makes signings then they may have surplus plaers and, conversly. they will not want to sell'back-up' players too soon incase they then get plundered from above by bigger clubs.

It will always be the case that most deals will get done in the last day or two.

Murray will either go pretty early in the transfer window or not at all (Unless its for a ridiculous amount of money). We need to find a replacement and we would't be stupid enough to sell him on deadline day with no chance of a replacement.

Not really 7th = out of play offs
19th = out of relegation

Both play in this division next season. No prize money for finishing position in the division. So it is no different really.

Just to explain to Merry Prankster the end result whether we finish 7th or 19th is that next season we will be competing for the title in this division. In the Premiership there is prize money at stake for the higher that you finish but not so in this division. So we either have to get promoted, which seems highly unlikely, or avoid relegation which seems probable and then we get another chance to try next season.

That means that the financial incentive for us comes from playing the best football we can and finishing as high as we can. This will put bums on seats and sell season tickets for next season

. The dire rubbish offered up this season will be reflected in ticket sales and hence revenue.
