I am quite pleased to hear that the Queen as head of state and in whose name the law of the land is upheld should have a particular interest in why someone preaching terrorism against the people of the UK cannot be deported as readily as most would expect.

However Gardner was rather naive and unprofessional in revealing the detail of their conversation, especially being as he is the BBCs 'security' correspondent.

I found Frank Gardner's biog quite interesting - yes he was from a privileged background and appeared to follow the rather predictable public school / banking career route, then mainly working in the Middle East. He then decided to chuck it in and become a journalist. He started off as a glorified tea boy at the BBC and just happened to be around when a news story kicked off in the Middle East and he offered his local knowledge and kind of blagged his way into the role from there. Very opportunist but he made the most of being in the right place at the right time. Well, up until the ambush in which he was paralysed when he was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time, especially as he wasn't the original target.
