I don't agree, I'm not particularly bothered by what the Monarch has to say to be honest. And it wasn't partisan comments, it was home affairs, in which our unelected head of state would/should have opinions on.

I think given his work as a reporter which has always been excellent and the fact that he overcame disability after nearly being killed reporting it's a bit harsh to call him a goon.
it is
That having been said it's fairly astonishing that none of the today programme reporters including him seemed to be aware of this protocol. Surely all journalists at his level and with access to the Queen would have been told this as a matter of course? Maybe not, in which case it is lax of the BBC legal team I gues.

Will David Blunket have to apologise as well for revealing that the Queen did not talk to him about it?
If she is entitled to privacy about what she said to whom then surely the same applies about what she didn't say to somebody - or else we could just work out what she did say, and to whom, by collating all the info about what she didn't say to whoever. And that wouldn't be right.

the royal family including the Queen and Mr Hook are all rolled up the same to me what they have to say matters not to the likes of us and does not and will not make the slightest difference to what happens to hook.

the only reason I would grudgingly give the Queen any deference is she made that cretin thatcher stand while she had her weekly audience with her

does this make her a bit of a socialist

The Queen has all volumes of Das Kapital, she's also an expert on Marxist social theory and I heard an avid fan of Trotsky. Perhaps that's why she made Thatcher stand.

The Queen made Thatcher stand to show her who was the real royal.

BBC Issues apology to Queen after secrets revealed

Fairly disgusting I am sure you will agree, one of the great unwritten laws of the land. What is spoken to between the Queen and the media is kept absolutely private.

Hey Crodo, if you'd have had 6 (SIX) slugs shot into you by some of Hookeys mates in Saudi Arabia as a journalist, and your camerman died............
On the other hand he has been an officer in the Royal Green Jackets and worked as a Banker, went to School at Marlborough. I have no doubt he knew exactly what he was doing, so is obviously a nob!

Another good example of how we should not have an interfering monachy. One rule for them and another for everyone else. Frank always comes across as a excellent journalist.

The press should publish more on all the royals abuse of priavlige and power.

Where in this story is there an interfering monarchy and royal abuse of power? She mad a private comment expressing her personal view, which should have remained private. Ergo, no interference and no abuse of power.

I don't think it's so much about the fact that it's the Queen - as a journalist, if somebody says something to you off the record, it should absolutely stay that way.

I agree that Frank is a superb journalist.

The rest of your post is nonsense. The Queen has interfered in nothing. She has expressed a personal view in private, which she is perfectly entitled to do just like the rest of us.

You have invented an unfounded and laughable criticism to suit your agenda.

By all means be anti-monarchy but if you want your views to be credible, stick to facts.

She was lobbied the Home Secretary about it, how is that not trying to interfere?
