Also today The Hamilton Accies game was abandoned today with the score at 3-3 because of a very serious injury to a player. Anyone know what happened?

The match between Accies and Clyde was abandoned after 80 minutes after 18 year old Accies defender Ross McCabe suffered a serious injury. Ross made a very strong tackle on Clyde player Dougie Imrie and was caught in the throat by the player's studs. He collapsed immediately and the first aiders and stretcher bearers rushed on to the park. With a first aider administering CPR to Ross, the atmosphere turned extremely nasty on the pitch and referee Richmond told both sets of players to return to their dressing rooms. After a delay of around 15 minutes, it was announced that the game had been abandoned.

The latest news is that young Ross is sitting up in hospital but can recollect nothing of the incident. He is expected to make a full recovery.

A quick diagnosis of the situation was made because it took place right below the camera gantry, where the action is filmed for the club video. The cameraman was able to rewind the tape and see what happened. He spotted the nature of the injury and was able to inform the medical staff.
