Coppell has also agreed a deal to become Reading manager on a 3 year deal worth £200,000 .

Compensation is the stumbling block, thought to be £150,000 although Knight wants £250,000.

Blackpool was Coppells last game in charge!!

I would hope that DK is also insisting on a 'hands off our players' clause.

They've been after Cullip for a while, and may well be looking at Little Leon as well.

You're just making this up as you go along aren't you?

So how come Dick is just being quoted as follows on Ananova?

Brighton chief issues Coppell plea

Brighton chairman Dick Knight has called on manager Steve Coppell to come to a decision on his proposed move to Reading.

"This situation cannot go on for us or Reading," said Knight.

He claimed Reading planned to confirm Coppell's appointment as successor to Alan Pardew on Tuesday but were forced to scrap a press conference because Coppell could not reach agreement on terms.

"Steve is clearly still negotiating with Reading," said Knight. "He knows we want him to stay but he has got to make his decision quickly."

Reading have refused to confirm they are in talks with Coppell, with director of football Nicky Hammond saying: "We will take our time to get it right and not discuss any individuals whilst we are still going through the process."

Reading have been without a manager since Pardew quit to join Division One rivals West Ham three weeks ago and have won once in six league matches.

Kevin Dillon has been in charge as caretaker manager but has been told he will not get the job on a permanent basis.

That story has been regurgitated for days now.

Its true peeps.

I would agree with that.

Another thread started by Locky earlier today says exactly the same thing.

I know Locky as a personal friend and he would not start rumours

Well if thats the case then they need to hurry up about the whole thing and let everyone know. surely if terms are agreed then they can announce their manager and then sort out the compo afterwards.

Reading seem to be just as much in the dark. Don't seem to be very interested.

For example ...

Coppell - Still No News!

Added by HNA? on 08/10/03

Reading appear no closer to finally securing the services of Steve Coppell, as the saga drags on. This Friday is a full month since Alan Pardew offered his resignation - seven games have passed since then and Reading remain without a manager as Kevin Dillon continues his caretaker duties.

The Royals were hoping to confirm Coppell's appointment last week, and after failing to agree terms were then expecting Coppell to agree the revised conditions early this week instead. The latest rumour is that Reading had to cancel plans for Coppell to sign his contract today as negotiations between Reading, Brighton and Coppell continue.

The delay has left the club without any public excuses and has seen them fail to commit to a deadline for the appointment of the new manager. Coppell still remains favourite for the job but no one seems to know when it will finally all be resolved.

Rumour Rating: Almost Certain

The official website is totally silent about this today! Yesterday only 'no news'.
