I for one are happy to see us blend into the insignificance of a Finland or Denmark

So the alternative to not acting is to allow the rebels ( and many many civilians ) to be slaughtered by war planes ? It would be completely immoral to stand by and just allow mass murder. Those who advocate doing nothing ( or minding our own business as some prefer to say ) - would you walk on by on the other side of the street if you saw an old lady being mugged ? After all, it's none of your business.

Quite happy to walk on by if the old lady in question is angrily brandishing an AK47 or hanging off the back of a f*ck off gun fixed to the back of a pickup..................c'est la vie.

Our politicians would have us believe that this is like Egypt, families and unarmed innocents, who make up the vast majority of the population, protesting their government peacefully.

Actually this is a minority of heavily armed (including war planes) militias trying to overthrow the government.

Im sure if the student protesters in london had been using war planes and automatic weapons we would have sent in the military to stop them.

Would that then justify China bombing us?

What the f*ck is going on?

Most revolutions start with the students and the academics.

The reason the opposition in Libya grew more powerful in military terms was also down to the fact certain military figures in the Libyan forces switched sides e.g why 2 of the 4 most advanced planes in the Libyan airforce now sit in Malta due to conscientious objectors.

Generally these types of men are like those Nazis who sought to kill Hitler.

They might be part of the machine, but it doesnt mean they agree nor support all it does.

interesting, because i dont recall a single politician or pundit comparing the Libyian situation to Egypt. what is occuring, if you paid attention, is that in responce to protests Gaddafi has reacted agressivly to reassert his authority and is now using his army to put down a rebelion. yes, they have some arms, yes theres issue about consistancy of which rebellions get support (unlike say Bahrain). but you would have to very ignorant to compare whats happening in Libya to London student marches.
