Just to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to sign the petition. Powys County Council will meet tomorrow to decide whether to go ahead with the closure, we’re hopeful of good news but expecting the worst. Any closure will be fought with everything we have available. Fingers crossed.

Update: Powys voted to close the school, so we’ve now entered a consultation period. I’m going to nick some of the ideas we used to get the Amex planning permission....maybe even a “Save Llanbedr School” politicial party for the upcoming local elections.

What a thing to drop on the kids and parents during a pandemic.

Thanks again to everyone who has signed the petition, it’s nearing 1500 signatures now which is a staggering amount for such a small community in such a short length of time. Cheers.

Just a quick update. Powys County Council voted today for the closure of the school, we’ll be taking them to court for a judicial review.

Thanks again to those who signed our petition and gave a couple of bob to the fund. We keep fighting.

Quick update.

During the local council elections our little school fielded two parents (as Libdem candidates) who were voted in, an idea we nicked from the Seagulls Party campaign for Falmer, the issue of the closure of rural schools being the hot topic of the election. The Conservative/Independent coalition were decimated at the vote and a motion will be discussed to overturn the decision to close our school (and two others).

We still have the legal team frothing at the bit to get Powys council to court but hopefully we won’t have to if the motion goes in our favour. The Libdems haven’t got overall control of the council, but should be able to get enough support from Labour and PlaidCymru councillors to stop the closures.

There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel.

A good news day.

The new council has decided to review the decisions and policies made by the previous incumbents, we’re not closing in September. They do want to “transform education” in Powys but not by closing schools.
