waterboy i have no sympathy for you i lost a very good friend of mine to a person who was three times the limit. aswell as my friend he killed another and left another with seroiuse injuries. the driver spent 3 years in prison, not alot but he has to live with it on his concience for the rest of his life.
i hope the ban makes you realise what a weapon you have when you get in the car after having a drink. and that you take iit as a learning curve and dont do it again, you have got off lightly with a ban, next time you could end up dead

For all you know the guy may have had a single brandy on the way home from work, got pulled just down the road from the pub and then failed a breath test. QUOTE]

Oh, well thats alright then !!

People do strugge to read at times on here! I said that both are wrong but drinking 10 pints and driving my home is WORSE then the sitauation you have quoted. Just my opinion.

Drink Driving is Drink Driving. 10 Pints or one Brandy will make no difference if he kills someone. Maybe it's different in the Met ? You sure you were a copper ?

As i said, that was my personal opinion rather than the law however you will find that the sentence handed down would change drastically depending on if the defendant is just over the limit or 3-4 times over so actually it does make a lot of difference, although not if he had killed someone.

The most curious thing..
For all you know the guy may have had a single brandy on the way home from work, got pulled just down the road from the pub and then failed a breath test.

That is a vastly different type of person to someone who drinks 10 pints and then kills someone on the way home from a night out. having worked as a copper in London ive seen more than my fair share of accidents and drink drivers however it has also taught me not to jump to conlusions.

IF someone close to you have died at the hands of a drink driver then naturally my sympathies go out to you but that doesnt mean you should react in that manner when you do not know the full circumstances. perhaps Water Boy feels in a position to clarify the circumstances. If not then thats his perogative.
No:dunce:, you are completely wrong on all counts!!!!!! :thud:

Its very easy, you don't have a drink :whisky: and then get into a car, start the engine and wobble out into the road........................... at all.............................. ever.

Even one little tichy whichy drink ossifer honest hic! will impair your reactions so don't defend the indefensible.

I have my opinion and stick to it. I dont drink at all when I drive but I also dont jump to conclusions about others based on limited information.

Well thanks for clearing that up for me officer.

So based on the Limited info on this blokes thread what is your opinion of him ?

He has told us hardly anything, I agree. However, when he says that he has been banned for drink driving my opinion of him is that he is an idiot and deserves his ban. I also think that by doing this he has risked many lives and, who knows, one of those might have been someone I know.

we have all made mistakes and on that count acting as moral arbitors would possibly suit very few of us.

Waterboy made a mistake and is either going to learn from it (or not if his question about CBT is anything to go by) or find himself ostracised as the responses on here clearly show.

The holier than though attitudes though...........? Can't say I'm comfortable with that even when I agree with the views expressed

Yes you are correct-however as I have already said in a previous threat perhaps Water Boy will be humble enough to state how far over the limit he was. That would allow a more accurate decision to be made.

That said I think its wrong for people to jump down his throat without knowing what has actually happened.

Also i would like to apologise to anyone that has been affected by D&D

Almost EVERY driver on this board will have driven, on occasions, the morning after a big night. Whether knowingly close to the limit or not, they'll all have done it.

That's not passing any kind of moral judgement, just the very likely situation.

Hear Hear.

I have certainly done that, not proud of it but there you go.

I also think that the incidence of Drink Driving is going up (Judging from the packed car park at my local every night) because people know that they will not get a pull because we don't have traffic bizzies anymore just cameras.

Agree with the comment about the cbt question though, if you have been unlucky enough to get a DUI ban I guess you would know that includes all motor vehicles.

like said above by hrfc, every one has driven the morning after the night before, tbh i do hate drink drivers being on the road, but it's life, i have driven the morning after but not untill like 11 oclock thinking that i would be ok but you never know u could be over the limit by a fraction and thats a ban.

i am not sticking up for him, but make sure you get the facts beofre u jump to conclusions.
