** HELP ** Need a good country pub

Hello Folks

I need some help on finding a nice country pub that does good food on Cristmas eve.
Mrs Gravy and myself have always gone to The Halfway House between Lewes & Uckfield but they have changed hands and will not be opening this Crimbo Eve. I am trying to find a pub in the same sort of area. Not the Cock Inn though. Had a meal there a few months back and it was rank.
Has anyone been to The Old Ship (use to be the stewards inquiry).

Any help would be great.

Very close to this but The Peacock in Piltdown is very good

The Rainbow between North Chailey/Cooksbridge is also very good but needs to be booked.

You might need to see if your Bank will give you a loan first though - oh, and watch out for the neighbours!

Christmas Eve booking may be a problem now.

The old ship is good now yes, as is the laughing fish. I love the Rose and Crown in fletching, far less pretentious than the Rose and crown. The royal oak in newick is a good bet too.

Totally agree. Especially the bit about the Griffin's neighbours...

The Half Moon at Plumpton, near the college, does excellent food. Might be a bit far from your designated area though.
