Police have made an arrest today based on a name they have been given by a member of the public, but annoyingly (for me and him!) it WASN'T the guy in the photos.

doesnt modern tech tag photos with GPS info ('EXIF' ?), showing where pics were taken..?

(as seen on flickr etc- some pics have map overlays)

might be worth checking properties of these pics again..

I've checked for location info in the EXIF information on my computer and there is none unfortunately.

Why do you actually want it to be the guy in the hat rather than the photographer? Do you resent the subject for not checking that the camera was not stolen? I think you have grown to hate this guy!

Isn't it conceivable that there isn't a photographer, I assume you can set it up to take a delayed photo

No-ones mentioned the young girl for a long time. Couldn't she have taken the pictures. I know you can't post the picture of her on the web but the police could. She would be far easier to identify because of the small age range and someone would definately know her. Presumably the police are making their own enquiries concerning her.
