I noticed hearing loss in my right ear a few months ago. I've been to two doctors, two hospital EN&T departments, two hearing aid suppliers and had four separate hearing tests done, all of which were consistent; higher frequency hearing loss in both ears but the right ear 10 to15% worse, which is why I first thought it was simply a blocked right ear. The diagnosis is hearing aids, no other solution. Both hearing aid suppliers I have consulted so far have, obviously, proposed top of the range RIC (receiver-in-the-canal) hearing aids with 64 channels, maximum 8 db background noise reduction and bluetooth connectivity to the phone, coming in at a whopping 4,250 euros for the pair. I am currently partway through a 2 weeks trial and in no hurry to rush into a purchase. In fact, I am going to another audiologist and supplier next week whose range tops out at a mere 2,350 euros.
Have the wise people of NSC (even the not so wise) got any information or advice derived from their own experience? I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who is wearing RIC or ITE (in the ear) hearing aids. Also, has anyone bought chinese hearing aids through Amazon in the 50 to 200 pounds price range?
TIA
