Although i have been christened and confirmed myself ( many years ago, i hasten to add)

I point blank refuse to have any of my 6 kids done, much to the discust of my mum, who thinks they are all destined for hell.

What right have parents to "commit" their children to a particular religion before they have had a chance to make up their own minds.

Commitment to a religion (or none) should be made once you have had an opportunity to study all religions and consider the arguments of the atheists. Only at that stage should "christening" be permitted. In fact the law in Britain should require the teaching of all religions and atheism at school to enable kids to make a considered choice.

Yeah, but that's the whole point. You're doing it on their behalf; they then have the chance to 'confirm' it later on in life if they so wish. I didn't. No harm done.
