Unfortunately, there seems to be an awful lot of poor referees who will book a player for the first offence when a quick word would be sufficient.
If it's a real bone-cruncher, then fair enough, but IMO the standard of refereeing is so poor that it seems the only way they think they can bring discipline into a game is by throwing yellow cards at everyone from the off.

They seem to be even worse when they're on the telly, with all this "letting them know who's boss" crap.

I can't remember one really awful foul at the Leeds game and yet the ref deemed it necessary to book 9 players, ffs.
