Even to demolish the pier would cost four million. Money the borough council cannot afford to throw around willy nilly. To restore it would cost in excess of twenty million not to mention the annual cost for its keep up.


If the DfT invested in the A21 and the train line and made it possible to get to hastings in less than 1hr 45 mins from London, then we mmight get some tourists who might make a pier a financially viable option.

Alternatively it was a good place for gigs and raves, so maybe a promoter but at £20 million to restore we would need a 6 month led zepplin residency to break even

It was concerns over 800 Kooks fans falling in the sea during their planned concert which saw it closed in the first place!
