it's not the music, i mean, they're nowt special, but they're not THAT shit, it's their image of 'bad boy rockers' that annoy me

and there is a band who's 1st ever UK gig was in Worthing - REM. Sadly, I wasn't there.

Plenty of good live music out there. And you can get to say that you saw them live when they were just just starting out

And how many of those were in the past decade? ???

My point about them being in Worthing is that they are a big name band and in the 7 or so years i've been watching gigs there haven't been many succesful bands play Worthing instead of Brighton!

fair point but Worthing is never gonna get the really big names. There's still plenty out there though whatever your taste (unless its big names of course!)

Is it true Elton John played Worthing in the late 70s?

I have seen the poster for Hendrix and Pink Floyd playing the Assembly Hall circa 1968.
