1976 and 1st v 2nd in a Hereford v Albion game.

peter taylor sprang a major surprise by dropping top scorer, fred Binney in oder to give a debut to young Peter Ward. wardy scored within 50 seconds and the rest is history.

This was a big game and featured on Match of the Day. hereford had a good team and we Here glad to settle for 1-1 but would eventually miss out on promotion to hereford, Cardiff & Millwall.

The following season Albion were promoted and hereford were relegated.

My first away game. Took the supporters club coach from the Goldstone. I was a big Superfred fan and was just as surprised as anyone of the 'unknown' Peter Ward's inclusion especially as the game was on Match of the Day. But it was a case of 'I was there' when the legend began.

It was St. Ledger day, and I had to bunk off double economics to get to this match. Encountered a Herefordshire bull in a narrow passageway outside the ground before the match. I had no idea who had scored, or even who Peter Ward was. I think their equaliser was punched over the line. We took a thousand fans, but does my memory deceive me when I recall a massive hole in the terrace at the back of our end? We were struggling to avoid falling into it at times, it was quite deep. If nobody can confirm this, then I may indeed be approaching senility.

Another new striker scores shortly after coming on as sub on the 27th March

I was just about to post that!

If he turns out to be half as good as Wardy then we'll have a fine player.

As for the hole at hereford, i don't recall it. Our end was pretty packed though.
